When I was given an error that rejected my Mac operating system from downloading my forever-beloved WinAmp media player, I cried fake tears. But an hour later, I had found an OS X replacement.

Pros of WinAmp:
– preview songs between the download & the adding to iTunes library stages;
– drag-and-drop option which simplifies listening off an external drive;
– creating playlists easily (essential for “mixcds”);
– simplify listening to others’ mixes or compilations without adding a dozen new artists unto my iPod.

The replacement is Songbird. Right off the bat it seems to have a similar interface to Winamp’s original skin. I will continue to use iTunes to config my nano, but this program will be my right hand in assisting with creating MixCDs.
